This fiery print has notably been around for decades, gracing the catwalks of numerous fashion shows including Christian Dior, Azzedine Alaia. Also we couldn’t mention leopard print without mentioning Versace, where the print has been a staple on the runways since the beginning.
There has been a big push from designers and influencers to revive this ever-loved print.
Designers such as Tom Ford, Michael Kors and the incredible Victoria Beckham have all included the print in their collections, bringing it back into the modern day. You must have been living under a rock not to notice Beyoncé’s spectacular head-to-toe leopard print attire at her recent concert!
Leopard print is so versatile that it can be styled in any way – from adding a splash of colour to an outfit, to embracing it whole heartedly. It is a print that can suit everyone no matter what size, shape, age and gender. Wearing a piece of leopard print, whether a coat, bag, belt or dress, has been said to be like wearing a red lip. It instantly elevates an outfit and your mood, making you feel great.
At last spring and summer is right around the corner, the weather is starting to warm up and you can already smell the floral notes in the air. It felt like winter was here to stay and upsettingly for us it put a dampener on our wardrobe choices. However the spring and summer 2018 shows have come to an end and their creations have already started to influence the retail world. Thankfully bringing some much needed colour into our closets.
One trend, which we love and is somewhat of a revival from previous years, is the variety of headgear that was crowning the models dominating the catwalk. It is like the cherry on top, finishing of the beautiful garments, adding a whimsical, glamorous affect to the entire ensemble.
Designers such as Elie Saab, Malne and off course Dolce and Gabbana perfectly decorated the heads of their models with floral headbands and accessories. Looking more like art, some resembled the colours and vibrancy of Marc Quinn’s painting ‘radioactive nurseries of enceladus’, absolutely gorgeous.

All you magpies out there will be praising the gods for the prevalent themes to hit the autumn/winter 17-catwalk shows. One of the more striking themes used was the use of inordinate jewellery. With every model we were captivated by the boundless array of glimmering and wearable art. What better way to brighten up the darkening nights and contrast those autumnal colours than to add a bit of sparkle and shine.
Thankfully unlike previous years, jewellery was out in force. Usually an after thought to the designer’s elaborate designs, the jewellery was used as a key component of the outfit and in our opinion rightly so. So much of today’s jewellery are fashion pieces in themselves with designers commissioning jewellers to construct these show stopping pieces.
Four of the most notable trends from A/W 17 shows was the use of enormous earrings, high necklace’s, vintage inspired pieces and hoops. As an excuse to add to your jewellery box, we have highlighted and showcased some of our own amazing brands and designer pieces so you can shop and follow the trends for A/W17.
Its no surprise that earrings were shown on most models this season. The style varied from designer to designer, asymmetry the key look for designer Elie Saab, where mismatched earrings were on show. Contrasting colours from Balenciaga were all the rage for their runway. Heavy embellishment, estate style jewels with flashes of colour, long tassels or feathers were the most stand out, predominantly in the Celine collections.
Harking back to the 90’s inspired black fabric or leather chokers. This favourite trend of most of our youths has bounced back. The choker was adapted in mostly every show it appeared in, with each designer taking a different approach. Dior opted for the embellished look, with diamonds and pearls where Junya Watanabe went for the punk rock inspired, using leather and studs.
One of our favourites to be included was the use of jewellery inspired by the eras gone by. You got it, the use of oversized clip on earrings, pearl necklaces, brooches (shrieks with excitement) all harking back to the 1950’s style. Brooches mimicking old-fashioned elaborate designs with a modern twist were pinned to lapels, skirts and hats were a big hit for the fashion designer Miu Miu. Not surprisingly the use of the brooch was such an influence that it also made it into the men’s A/W 17 shows.

The hoop earring has never been just a trend, hence why it has never gone out of fashion. You are guaranteed to have already several hoops in your jewellery box already. They are so versatile, whether it classy and elegant or daring and sexy, suitable for any occasion. It was noticeable on the runway more so than Alexander McQueen who used various shapes and charms to give them their own charm and character. Rule of thumb for us, the bigger the better.
It’s true the phrase; jewellery can be a girl’s best friend. Jewellery is so versatile, and that is the beauty of it. As you can see from the collection above you don’t need to spend a fortune to follow the trends. Explore all the brands and designers My Healthcare Rewards have and we are sure that you will find your own treasure.
What are your thoughts on the A/W17 trends, is there any that catch your eye?

Do you find yourself grabbing your jeans as your go-to piece of clothing? Us too. So if that’s the case, why does shopping for this wardrobe staple often leave us with more anxiety than checking your bank account before payday!?
Jeans are so versatile. Dress them up or dress them down, they look good whatever the occasion. We all have that favourite pair of jeans and God forbid that something happens to them or you change your style!
The thought of replacing a pair of jeans is unimaginable but, sadly, inevitable. So to help you with your next jeans purchase, we are here give some advice and take the sting out of hunting for your perfect pair. You’re very welcome!
Firstly, plain and simple, we need to try on lots of pairs of jeans (and by lots, we mean all shapes, styles and sizes, no matter how frustrated your shopping companion gets) for fit, comfort, look and feel-good factor. It’s important to try different cuts, washes and brands as not all manufacturers construct their jeans in the same way. We have all fallen victim to trying on different brands in the exact same sizes, to find that one fits perfectly and the other doesn’t even get past your leg – what is that all about!?
Jeans, above all else, need to be comfortable. Fashion designers do occasionally use this adjective, regardless of what you’ve heard on Project Runway. You don’t want to have too tight a jean that gives you the horrific and unforgiving ‘overhang’ look. If the denim doesn’t fit or match your body shape, then it just won’t be comfortable. However, in saying this, there are some exceptions, some jeans need to be ‘broken into’ in order to fit your body.
There are two labels to look out for when shopping for jeans – washed denim and raw denim. Some jeans have a pre-washed or distress look, basically meaning that there will be less of a stretch, a change in structure and break-in process. Raw denim, on the other hand, can take months to mould to suit your body shape. Although time-consuming, perseverance is key as you will be rewarded with a pair of jeans that fits like a glove.
When shopping for jeans, do you normally stay in your comfort zone and go for your normal fits, washes or brands? If so, why not change your style and check out some of the latest trends hitting the denim world? Choosing a new style can be a daunting process but one that can be rewarding.
You can already see the influence the Autumn/Winter 2017 catwalk trends are having on the fashion world. Admittedly, some fashion might look a bit over the top. However, remember that there is something out there for everyone. That’s the joy of fashion! Besides, what’s wrong with trying on a new pair of jeans in the changing room? You might be surprised…
To start, one of the main influences to hit the catwalk is the use of fringes/frayed bottoms. Whether you go for the understated look or full-on, long fringed bottom, you will never go wrong.
We also predict that you will see a lot of embroidery hitting the High Street soon. Embroidery – yes, you heard us correctly! This style has been around for most of the summer and has no indication of leaving. You might have seen some people already rocking this trend. Don’t worry if you think you’re not ‘hip’ enough to pull this off as there is an embroidery style for everyone. Whether it’s the smallest to the largest detail, you will always be on point. You will be following designers such as Stella McCartney and Tory Burch Jeans who have all made this style their own. A huge benefit with embroidery is that the rest of your outfit can be kept simple and minimalistic, if the detail is all in the pants.
Another but more subtle trend is to try a two-toned look. To achieve this, simply put two denim washes in one – a nice and easy way to step up your denim game. The two-toned look appears effortless and stylish with even a plain top and leather jacket.
Lastly, and our favourite, are jeans with uneven hems. With these jeans, you don’t need to think about it – just go with it! They are the perfect fit if you want to show off that killer shoe you have wanted everyone to notice. The staggered and uneven edge will also draw attention to the foot, so make sure those nails are painted!
We would love to see pictures of you dressed in your latest denim finds. Vintage or new, casual or dressy, please tag #MyHealthcareRewards in your pictures and post on our social media pages.
